The modern rolling stock includes a large variety of cars, namely: freight cars, refrigerated cars of trains with machine cooling of cargo, all-metal passenger wagons equipped with air conditioning installations and various electrical and electronic equipment.

The carriage department provides training for students at the first and second educational levels (bachelor's and master's degrees).

Students studying in the educational program "Railway Cars and Car Facilities " master one of the main occupations of transport, which ensures the process of transportation of a reliable and reliable in operation of rolling stock.

The purpose of studying on the program is to acquire knowledge and skills in general technical, fundamental and special disciplines for providing opportunities for the creation and operation of wagons of main and industrial transport (both freight and passenger); on humanitarian and socio-economic disciplines - in the amount necessary for solving the set of socio-professional tasks.

The program is aimed at applicants interested in obtaining knowledge in the field of car-building and carriage facilities. The program will be interesting for those who plan to link their future with the design, manufacture, repair, maintenance and operation of modern passenger and freight cars; for those who aspire to master one of the most important and classical professions of railway transport - engineer-mechanic from a non-rolling rolling stock.
This is especially true at present, when links of three international transport corridors of Europe-Asia will be laid on the territory of independent Ukraine. Therefore, it is clear that these areas will successfully operate the passenger and freight high-speed rolling stock of Western European and Asian countries, and the demand for specialists in our profile will grow significantly.

During the training on this program:
- study the structural and operational features of cars and containers, theory and design calculations for strength coaches, methods of ensuring the reliability of components and parts of cars;
- dynamic processes under vibrational motion of rolling stock are studied;
- the principle of operation and design features of the system of automatic brakes are studied in order to comply with traffic safety requirements;
- design features of electric and refrigerating equipment of rolling stock are studied;
- the technology of construction and repair of wagons is studied;
- technical maintenance of wagons in operation and repairs are studied;
- methods of automation of production processes, as well as logistic principles, management and marketing in the car repair industry are studied;
- formed the ability to solve non-standard professional task by the use of standard methods (algorithms) activities and to search for new technological solutions in the car-building;
- formed the ability to use modern technology and advanced methods of repair, training passenger trains to flight, best practices carload economy;
- formed knowledge in the development of science i social practices change, a reassessment of experience, analysis of their opportunities to acquire new knowledge, using modern information technology education in the field of railway transport.

After graduation from the University, engineers of this specialty work in the railroad carriage enterprises, car repair and car manufacturing plants, in design and research organizations both in Ukraine and abroad.

"Transport engineering" is the application of technologies and scientific principles to the design, operation and logistic management of objects for any type of transport in order to ensure safe, efficient, fast, comfortable, convenient, economical and environmentally safe transportation of passengers and goods. Transport engineering is widely used in all types of transport, in particular, on railways, etc.

The purpose of the program "Carriages and Transport Engineering" is to acquire knowledge, skills and abilities in the field of car-building and methods of designing, developing, analyzing and operating vehicles and their components.

The modern term "MECHATRONIC" ("Mechatronics") got its name from the combination of words MECHANIKA and ELECTRONICS. The basis of mechatronic systems is the idea of ​​deep interaction of mechanical, electronic and computer components, which allows you to build technology with qualitatively new characteristics. Mechatronics is used in many industries, such as: industrial production, railway, automobile, aviation and space technology, robotics, medical and sports equipment, household appliances, etc.

The purpose of the program is to acquire knowledge, skills and abilities in the field of car-building and methods of designing, developing, analyzing and operating mechatronic systems and their components.
Students master the methods of mathematical modeling on the computer of mechatronic systems and their components, learn to develop microprocessor control systems for the automation of production and program microcontrollers, mastering modern software complexes for the simulation of rolling stock; learn to apply computer methods of collecting and processing information used in wagon construction and carriage.

The program is addresed to all students who interested in obtaining knowledge in the field of mechatronics, automation of production and car manufacturing.

The training of engineers on the above-mentioned educational programs is carried out by the department of cars, which employ 3 professors and 6 associate professors, candidates of sciences.

For the educational process at a high level in the department there is a necessary laboratory base: a passenger car-laboratory of modern construction, equipped with active electric equipment and installation of air conditioning; Laboratory of Dynamics and Strength of Functional Units of Wagons; complex laboratory for tests of brake equipment of locomotives, cars, electric trains and diesel trains; laboratory of automation of production processes in car repair, electric power supply, and others. At all stages of training, modern computer technologies are widely used.

Every year, the best students of the department take a successful part in international scientific and technical conferences. So in 2011 at the All-Ukrainian Olympiad on rolling stock the first place was Glushchenko Artem, in 2012 - Semenenko Anna.

In order to increase the practical training of students, the educational work at the department's departments in the railway station is considerably intensified. Kharkiv-Sortling and in the car depot of the Basis. The department has a good scientific and methodological base for conducting the educational process at a high level; teachers of the department over the past five years have issued about forty methodical instructions, lecture notes, manuals and textbooks. In the curricula there were disciplines that correspond to the modern development of science and technology in market conditions. The transition to teaching subjects in Ukrainian is carried out.


In the conditions of reforming the railways of Ukraine radically changed the concept of implementation of diploma projects. The main focus of their topics was the restructuring of the carriage and passenger facilities of Ukrzacity.

Subject course and diploma design is closely related to the needs of production. Annually, the carriage service department submits its proposals to the department with the request for development of separate issues of organization, technology of repair and automation of production.

During the training, students undergo vocational training for the receipt of worker's specialties at the Center for Vocational Training, where the workers of the specialty are trained by the caretaker, a locksmith for the repair of rolling stock, a passenger carriage driver. Every year, dozens of our students successfully work in student teams. For conscientious work they have been repeatedly encouraged by the leadership of the Southern Railway, as well as other railways of Ukraine.

The received workers' specialties help not only better master the course of theoretical training, but also better adapt in a collective after the beginning of labor activity.


The department has trained more than three thousand specialists and masters who work in different positions in Ukraine and CIS countries. Training of highly skilled personnel is in progress, full-time and part-time postgraduate courses, doctoral studies are in place.

Establishments and organizations that correspond to the training programs and actively cooperate with the issuing department: NPP "HARTRON-EXPRESS LTD", cars and passenger depots of Ukrzaliznytsya PJSC, State Enterprise "Ukrainian Research Institute of Wagon-building", PJSC "Kryukovsky Carriage Works", car repair enterprises of Ukrzaliznytsia, Azovmash PJSC and other scientific-design enterprises and design organizations related to transport and carriage facilities. The department also works closely with the leading manufacturers of bearing units for rolling stock, namely: SKF, Timken and Brenco.

After graduation, engineers work at transport companies, car repair and car manufacturing plants, design and research organizations, both in Ukraine and abroad.
