Purpose of the study of the educational program

The purpose of the study of the educational program is acquiring knowledge, skills and competencies in the field of organization of transportation and transport management. Students acquire fundamental knowledge of all aspects of the transportation process (cargo and car handling, processing of documents, information transfer in automated systems); learn how to organize the transportation of goods and passengers at all levels of management.

Educational program addressees

The program is intended for those who are interested in acquiring knowledge in the organization of transportation of goods by various modes of transport in accordance with the current legislation.
This program will also be useful to those who are interested in acquiring skills in making transport service agreements for different modes of transport, acquiring knowledge in the transfer of ownership between the parties involved in transportation. Students can learn what carriers are involved in the process and how they interact with each other and with the cargo owners.
The program is also interesting for those who in the future intend to be employed in major transport companies, logistics centers or organizations.

Training by the program provides the following scope of knowledge, skills and competencies, ability to apply knowledge and make judgments:
  • basic principles of the structural and functional organization of railway transport facilities and transport system are studied;
  • principles of management of transport processes and interaction of modes of transport are studied;
  • modern methods of drawing up a train makeup plan and traffic schedule, technical standards of operational work, operational plans of the railway, stations and junctions are studied;
  • design (reconstruction, rebuilding) of railway stations and junctions using modern automated systems is studied;
  • ability to use the acquired theoretical knowledge for making managerial decisions (laboratory work and situational games when students perform duties of a station officer on-duty, train controller, station master) are developed;
  • skills of technical and economic evaluation of proposed organizational measures and design solutions are developed;
  • skills in drawing up shipping documents, accounting and reporting forms; use of modern automated control systems in the railway transport are developed.
Employment opportunities

The graduates of the specialization “Organization of transportation and transport management” can be employed in the field of:
- major and industrial railway transport (in the structures of the commercial department of Ukrzaliznytsia JSC (procurement, access roads, agreement management, marketing departments, etc.) and structures of inter-branch enterprises of industrial railway transport);
- customs clearance;
- purchase logistics in organizations involved in international transportation (procurement logistics manager, logistics manager, etc.);
- freight forwarding (managers and specialists of forwarding, stevedoring, tally and consulting companies);
- management of transportation process in international traffic (leading specialist in transportation management);
- management of logistics centers and terminals (heads of divisions of different levels).

Additional information

In Ukraine, numerous medium and large transport, logistics and freight forwarding companies function; they require relevant specialists. In addition, Ukraine has a favorable geographic position, which contributes to a large amount of transit traffic crossing the national border. This leads to an increase in demand for customs employees. This specialization allows actualizing not only in the transport industry, but also in business structures that are engaged in manufacture of material goods and executive management structures of different levels.
