Students obtain knowledge and skills in the area of designing, repair and maintenance of railway tracks, civil, industrial buildings and structures, production of construction materials, field and technical supervision for construction, maintenance and repair of construction engineering and hydraulic units.

Faculty of Construction trains specialists for education and qualification levels of Bachelor and Master and for education and qualification level of Doctor of Philosophy in 3 specialities: "Sectoral mechanical engineering", "Building and civil engineering", "Railway transport".

Today Faculty of Construction is a huge educational and scientific university complex. It consists of 5 departments where 5 unique applied research laboratories, different specialized university laboratories and training rooms equipped with up-to-date instruments and installations operate efficiently. The majority of faculty lecturers are candidates and doctors of sciences and have academic ranks of associate professors and professors.

Thanks to training under the guidance of experienced academic staff, faculty graduates obtain a high professional qualification and get a job at public and private enterprises of the railway transport and building sector.

European programme, MieGVF project «Master of infrastructure and operation of high-speed transport in Russia and Ukraine» in compliance with TEMPUS IV (530281-TEMPUS-1-2012-1-FR-TEMP US-JPCR) has been introduced at the faculty. Students can get double degree: a state-recognized diploma in the main speciality and a diploma of the National Conservatory of Arts and Crafts (CNAM, Paris, France) in the specialities: "Manager of infrastructure of high-speed transport" and "Manager of operation of high-speed transport".
