There are more than 1000 thousand full-time and extra-mural students. The teaching staff of the faculty counts 85 lecturers (14 professors, doctors of sciences and 48 associate professors, candidates of sciences). The faculty was founded in 1960. The laboratories are equipped with special up-to-date instruments and installations. Active international cooperation with such firms as Bombardier Transportation, Schneider Electric, Siemens, Iskratel, Watson telecom and others.
Faculty of Information-control systems and technologies trains specialists for education and qualification levels of Bachelor and Master and for education and qualification level of Doctor of Philosophy in 4 specialities: "Automation and computer-integrated technologies", "Computer engineering", "Telecommunications and radio engineering", "Railway transport".
Only in Kharkiv there are about 20 designing firms and manufacturing companies that are relevant to the training programme and work closely with the departments of the faculty. More than 90% of faculty graduates obtain entry-level position at railway and underground railway enterprises. Our graduates hold leading positions in research and design organizations which are engaged in development, research and maintenance of train performance systems. They work for fixed-line and mobile communications providers, Internet services, data-computing centres, service centres and technical support centres for computer engineering.
For more than 50 years the faculty has trained more than 10 thousand specialists, among them there are deputy chiefs of railways, chiefs and deputy chiefs in the central railway administration, signalling and communication divisions, managers of other enterprises and agencies.
European programme, MieGVF project «Master of infrastructure and operation of high-speed transport in Russia and Ukraine» in compliance with TEMPUS IV (530281-TEMPUS-1-2012-1-FR-TEMP US-JPCR) has been introduced at the faculty. Students can get double degree: a state-recognized diploma in the main speciality and a diploma of the National Conservatory of Arts and Crafts (CNAM, Paris, France) in the specialities: "Manager of infrastructure of high-speed transport" and "Manager of operation of high-speed transport".
